Texas Gov. Abbott lashes out right after 46 migrants observed lifeless in tractor-trailer: 'These deaths are on Biden'

Following authorities located an 18-wheeler that carried up to 100 folks abandoned in San Antonio, which includes at minimum 46 people today who had been deceased, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott blamed President Joe Biden and his immigration insurance policies.

In a tweet, Abbott explained Monday evening's discovery rests squarely on Biden. "At The very least 42 Men and women Found Dead Within Truck Carrying Migrants In Texas. These fatalities are on Biden," Abbott mentioned, prior to officers lifted the dying rely to at minimum 46.

The Republican governor also criticized Biden for not doing enough to secure the southern border.

"They are a result of his fatal open border procedures. They exhibit the lethal repercussions of his refusal to enforce the law," Abbott extra.

Numerous other officers blamed the incident on Biden’s immigration procedures, which include Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who called the discovery "horrific" and "wrong." 

"How a lot of much more persons have to die right before Dems give a da--?" he questioned, right before earning a reference to Biden’s border disaster.

Rep. Tony Gonzales, a Republican who signifies Texas, also tweeted about the incident.

"Today in San Antonio it was 102 degrees. Visualize staying abandoned within an 18-wheeler remaining to die - 42 folks died these days - will @AliMayorkas even point out their names?" the lawmaker mentioned, referencing Alejandro Mayorkas, who was nominated by Biden to lead the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security.

"Demise count rises to 46 with one more 16 in the healthcare facility, to include things like 4 young children. Lord when will the nightmare conclusion," the Republican included in an additional tweet.

Gonzales also termed on Mayorkas to resign.

Sec. Mayorkas also responded to the incident on Twitter.

"I am heartbroken by the tragic loss of lifetime right now and am praying for those even now battling for their life," the Biden administration formal stated. "Far much too a lot of life have been missing as individuals – including family members, women of all ages, and kids – take this hazardous journey."

He also stated ICE is investigating and termed human smugglers "callous folks who have no regard for the susceptible men and women they exploit and endanger in get to make a financial gain."

He vowed to keep these responsible accountable and to take further action to disrupt smuggling networks.

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, who is a registered Impartial, also manufactured a standard reference to border policies remaining to blame. 

"We know that there is been expanding volumes [of migrants] above the past 6 months, 12 months relevant, you know, to the policies," Nirenberg claimed, "but our get the job done, again, is to offer humanitarian aid."

Nirenberg named Monday night’s discovery "nothing at all short of a horrific human tragedy."

"The plight of migrants trying to find refuge is generally a humanitarian crisis but tonight we are dealing with a horrific human tragedy," the mayor added Monday night time, talking near the area in which the tractor-trailer was discovered.

Officers did not say no matter whether the men and women ended up getting transported from Mexico or elsewhere.

Final week, Republican Rep. Andy Biggs described the predicament at the U.S.-Mexico border as "overrun," "out of manage" and "risky" He also predicted a lot more fatalities would shortly be uncovered.

"There is likely to be fatalities," the Arizona Republican informed Harris Faulkner on "The Faulkner Concentration" on June 21.

At the very least 16 men and women, together with four youngsters, had been uncovered alive in the tractor-trailer and had been hospitalized. The Division of Homeland Security is investigating the incident.
