Baker Mayfield's passion 'not always a detriment,' QB's previous head coach states

Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield found guidance from a person of his previous head coaches as he appears to be like to revive his career following a trade from the Cleveland Browns.

Freddie Kitchens, who was Mayfield’s offensive coordinator in 2018 and head mentor in 2019 with the Browns, pushed back on all those who criticize Mayfield’s passion and hearth on the field.

"I would say that [his passion is] an attribute that he has. It's not automatically a detriment," Kitchens stated in an interview on SiriusXM Radio Wednesday.

Kitchens, who serves as an analyst for South Carolina football, addressed Mayfield’s shoulder injuries previous time and the lack of ability of the Browns to manage coaching staffs.

"I believe it is certainly a factor when you commence talking about different voices, various units, different beliefs [and] philosophies," he explained. "Taking part in quarterback, you have to have the exact same vision, and all the things is your head coach and your coordinators. When that eyesight sometimes changes, it’s unquestionably a detriment."
