Chelsea seeks Manchester United’s De Jong

English reports said today, Saturday, that Chelsea FC entered the transfer market in full force, as it seeks Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, the goal of Manchester United, and is close to including Raheem Sterling and two others in Manchester City.

The Guardian newspaper reported that the Red Devils had agreed to pay £46m to sign the Barcelona midfielder, who is now open to joining coach Eric Ten Hag’s squad.

However, the newspaper revealed that Chelsea are closely monitoring the deal and could start a late bid to rival United for the Dutch international.

In a related context, the Daily Mail reported that Chelsea are close to a £45m deal to sign Manchester City and may acquire other players this summer.

The Blues are in advanced talks with the Premier League champions and are expected to join Sterling in the coming days. According to the newspaper, the 27-year-old is set to sign a four-year contract at Stamford Bridge after a glittering seven-year spell at the Etihad.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are reported to have expressed interest in defensive duo Nathan Ake and Oleksandr Zinchenko during talks with City.

Raheem Sterling participated in 47 games with Manchester City in all competitions during the 2021-2022 season, scoring 17 goals and making 9 assists.

England international Raheem Sterling also helped Manchester City win the Premier League title last season.
