CIA director sends warning after suspected noose found near facility: Report

CIA Director William Burns sent a warning to employees of the agency last week after what appeared to be a noose was found outside near an undisclosed facility in Virginia.

Burns said in a message that the agency has a zero-tolerance policy toward racism and racist symbols after the object was located near a CIA-operated facility, sources told the New York Times.

"C.I.A. has zero tolerance for actions or symbols of hatred and treats any such incidents with the utmost seriousness,” a spokesperson for the agency told the outlet.

No evidence has been found that leads the agency to believe the object was left by an employee, though an investigation has been tasked with looking into the matter, sources said.

The facility in question is located in a building out of which the agency discreetly operates. The building also houses other businesses and organizations.

Sources declined to provide further information about the facility's location but said it was not outside the CIA headquarters in Langley.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the CIA for comment.
