Deadline to apply for $750 child tax credit payment in Connecticut is just one week away

Timing is running out for Connecticut families to claim their child tax rebate as the July 31 deadline looms.

Eligible families can receive payments of up to $250 per child for up to three children. As of Tuesday, only about half of eligible recipients claimed their rebate, according to the Connecticut Mirror.

GIVING BIRTH COSTS $3,000 FOR THE INSURED

In order to be eligible for the rebate, applicants must be residents of Connecticut, must have a child 18 and under on their 2021 federal income tax return, and must hit the required income threshold.

The income threshold is $100,000 or less for people filing their taxes as single or married filing separately and $200,000 or less for couples filing jointly. The program has an online application.

Connecticut lawmakers approved the rebate as part of a pandemic relief scheme. Gov. Ned Lamont has indicated he would like to make the credit a continuing policy in the future.

At least 165,621 applications for the credit on behalf of 258,819 children across the state have been filed as of Tuesday, per the outlet. State tax officials estimate that between 300,000 and 350,000 households are eligible for the tax credit.
