Deshazor Everett, former Washington basic safety, pleads guilty to reckless driving

Former Washington basic safety Deshazor Everett pleaded guilty to reckless driving for his job in a December crash that killed his passenger.

Everett was at first charged in Virginia with felony involuntary manslaughter in January after an investigation identified he was speeding right before his athletics motor vehicle slammed into trees and rolled around on the night time of Dec. 23.

Reckless driving is a misdemeanor in Virginia punishable by up to a year in jail. He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 8 in Basic District Court docket in Loudoun County.

Everett's plea to the lessened charge was entered Tuesday. Messages sent to Everett’s lawyer and a spokesperson for the Commonwealth’s Lawyer on Wednesday ended up not promptly returned.

Everett was dealt with for major injuries following the crash. His passenger, Olivia S. Peters, 29, of Las Vegas, died at a clinic.

Washington put Everett on injured reserve just after the crash and unveiled him right after the season.

Everett, who turned 30 in February, was a particular groups captain in 2018 and played 7 NFL seasons, all with Washington. He played in 14 game titles previous calendar year prior to the crash alongside a street in Chantilly, Virginia.

An investigation decided Everett was driving at much more than twice the 45 mph (72 kph) pace restrict on Dec. 23 when his Nissan GT-R still left the roadway, according to a statement from the sheriff's business office just after Everett turned himself in at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Centre in February.
