Ex-Crimson Sox star wishes documentary on Jason Varitek-Alex Rodriguez battle

Jonathan Papelbon was a thorn in the New York Yankees’ side for the duration of his time with the Boston Pink Sox in the mid-2000s and stoked the fire of the rivalry on Tuesday.

Subsequent the launch of the first episode of ESPN’s Derek Jeter documentary, Papelbon tweeted the enterprise need to do a collection on "the true captain" who fought Alex Rodriguez.

"Hey ESPN when y’all are ready to do a documentary on the authentic captain who whipped A Rods A-- allow me know!" Papelbon wrote.

The former MLB closer was referring to the epic brawl among Rodriguez and then-Pink Sox catcher Jason Varitek in 2004. Varitek shoved his glove into the encounter of Rodriguez, which proved to be a section of Boston’s rallying cry on their way to their initially World Collection title because 1918 breaking the meant "Curse of the Bambino."

Papelbon and Varitek have been teammates from 2005 to 2011.

Papelbon was a four-time All-Star who appeared in 396 game titles and recorded a 2.33 Era with 509 strikeouts. He was in the Purple Sox minimal league method when the Varitek and Rodriguez struggle took place. He would aid Boston get the World Collection in 2007.

Varitek spent his full 15-year job with Boston. He strike 193 dwelling runs and batted .256 with a .776 OPS. He received two World Series titles, was a a few-time All-Star and gained a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger one particular-time every.
