Jan. 6: Key Services deleted texts asked for by investigators, watchdog report says

The Key Company deleted textual content messages from Jan. 5 and Jan 6, 2021, that had been asked for by officials investigating the breach of the U.S. Capitol, the Section of Homeland Security inspector general's office environment reported in a report this week.  

Inspector Typical Joseph Cuffari said in a letter to the Congressional committees investigating the Jan. 6 riot that "many" messages ended up "erased as portion of a gadget-alternative plan" after his workplace had asked for electronic communications from the Key Assistance through their "analysis of events at the Capitol on Jan. 6."

"It is relating to, obviously," Rep. Bennie Thompson, House Jan. 6 committee chairman and House Homeland Safety Committee chairman, instructed Axios Thursday. "If there is certainly a way we can reconstruct the texts or what have you, we will."

Cuffari also wrote that the requested doc selection was delayed for weeks mainly because the Department of Homeland Protection insisted that all records needed a lawful critique, building "confusion in excess of whether or not all records had been produced."
