Missouri police officer shot and killed pulling driver above for expired tag

A Missouri law enforcement officer was shot and killed Tuesday early morning when a driver pulled a gun on him for the duration of a routine targeted visitors halt, in accordance to officials.

North Kansas Metropolis law enforcement officer Daniel Vasquez, 32, was shot right after he stopped a driver in a grey Ford Taurus at all-around 10:40 a.m. for an expired temporary tag, officers mentioned.

He was rushed to the clinic, but eventually succumbed to his accidents.

The suspect sooner or later turned himself in to the Kansas City Police Office, Freeman reported. The id of the shooter has not been produced.

Vasquez experienced served with the North Kansas Metropolis Police for approximately two decades.

"This early morning, North Kansas City Police Officer Daniel Vasquez was killed in the line of responsibility when executing a motor vehicle halt in a community," North Kansas Town Mayor Bryant DeLong wrote in a statement on Facebook.

"I cannot categorical how excruciating this senseless death is for our corporation and group. Daniel’s spouse and children, the NKC Police Office, and our complete neighborhood are grieving from this tragedy," he continued.

North Kansas Town Police Chief Kevin Freeman said for the duration of an additional push briefing that Vasquez was a "shining star" in the division.
