Olympian Kim Glass speaks out immediately after her suspected attacker is charged: 'He needs to be off the streets'

Olympian Kim Glass, who was randomly attacked in Los Angeles by a man with a steel bolt last 7 days, spoke out about the incident on Tuesday evening soon after the suspect was billed, indicating that she hopes he gets the comprehensive 11-yr jail sentence he is dealing with. 

"The position is fellas, he has assaulted a lot of individuals right before me and he’s violated probation and he's violated paroles carrying out the exact detail," Glass unfortunate in a movie posted on her Instagram, noting that his other victims have been girls. 

"You fellas are only hearing about me due to the fact I am an Olympian," she ongoing. "And you fellas have not read from the other victims of the other attacks that have been taking place, frequently going on in this metropolis, so they need to have to be vindicated and we won't be able to drop the ball on this. We are not able to. Issues have to change." 

The suspected attacker, 51-yr-previous Semeon Tesfamariam, is accused of randomly throwing a 10-inch metallic bolt at Glass's experience whilst she was strolling in close proximity to a homeless camp in Los Angeles. 

He was earlier convicted of felony assaults in 2018 and 2019, but was out on parole when he allegedly attacked Glass. 

Bystanders witnessed the assault and detained Tesfamariam right until police arrived. He was charged with assault with a lethal weapon on Tuesday and is now getting held without the need of bail, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón explained.

Tesfamariam's arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday but doubts had been lifted about his competency to stand demo, so a new hearing was set for Aug. 12. 

"Obviously he’s not mentally perfectly and I do come to feel for him a large amount. At the very same time, sensation for anyone and keeping them accountable doesn’t have to be mutually unique," Glass stated Tuesday night on Instagram.

"He requires to be off the streets and I hope that he receives the comprehensive 11 yrs and then some, and I hope that when he’s undertaking it, he gets assistance."

Gascón, who has confronted scrutiny for reforms he place in place right after getting elected as district attorney in 2020, referred to as it a "brutal, unprovoked attack."

All those elevated crime stages have pushed a remember campaign towards Gascón, which not too long ago gathered adequate signatures to put the remember problem on the ballot in November. 

"The extra that we maintain permitting this difficulty go on and on and on, and they keep finding out and they are on the streets and we know that they are not healthier or mentally well and we’re placing our citizens, our health care staff, our cops, all people in harm's way," Glass said. "We’re allowing our culture down."
