Very good Samaritan in NJ rescues 22 from sinking constitution boat that reportedly struck bridge, Coast Guard states

The U.S. Coastline Guard (USCG) praised a Great Samaritan who served rescue 22 travellers aboard a charter boat in New Jersey just after the vessel evidently collided with a bridge and commenced getting on water.

The Starfish charter boat reportedly struck the Townsend Inlet Bridge in the vicinity of Sea Isle Town, New Jersey, on Monday night, the U.S. Coast Guard Mid-Atlantic reported. 

The vessel suffered a gash to its starboard hull, ensuing in a several compartments flooding, according to officials.

The Superior Samaritan, who was not identified, removed all 22 passengers and ferried them to the docks in Sea Isle Metropolis, exactly where crisis responders had been ready, the USCG explained.

No accidents have been reported.

Dive operations identified there was no damage to the ship’s gasoline tanks and no pollution had been claimed in the waters, officials stated.

Salvage crews have been doing work to dewater the vessel even though a harm and tow approach are developed.
