Celtics' Jayson Tatum defers to Brad Stevens on Kevin Durant trade rumors: 'That's his job'

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has taken care of that he’s content with the dynamics of the workforce next heartbreak in the NBA Finals and amid rumors of a trade aimed at landing two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant. 

But as questions carry on to flood in, Tatum isn’t concerning himself with conclusions off the courtroom. 

Tatum, who won a gold medal along with Durant at the 2020 Summertime Olympics, deferred to Brad Stevens, the former longtime head coach who was named president of basketball operations in 2021, when it comes to concerns about any probable trades.

"The interesting component about his occupation is Brad really don't notify me how to do my job any more. You not the mentor," Tatum told The Athletic in an interview posted Monday. "He lets me do my matter. I let him do his point. In all honesty, that’s his choice and that’s his task."

The Celtics have emerged as a prospective landing place for the Brooklyn Nets' star after he requested a trade in June, much less than a 12 months right after signing a four-calendar year agreement extension. Among the the names mentioned in that deal include things like All-Star Jaylen Brown and 2022 Defensive Player of the 12 months, Marcus Wise.

Tatum earlier declined to comment on the report past thirty day period but took the opportunity to share his "love" for the staff – as it stands.

"I performed with [Durant] through the Olympics," he reported. "Naturally, he's a wonderful player, but which is not my determination. I like our crew. I appreciate the men that we got. I never know if that report is accurate or not."

"We received two new items [during the offseason]," he included. "I enjoy our staff. Like I reported, I just go out there and enjoy with our teammates. I don’t put that hat on to make conclusions."

Durant is entering his 15th NBA year. He played in just 55 of 82 doable games during the 2021-2022 standard time immediately after missing the whole 2019-2020 time while recovering from a torn Achilles. The Miami Warmth and Phoenix Suns have also been joined to Durant.
