The New Orleans prisoners protest – in which inmates barricaded by themselves inside of a pod to plea for enhanced jail circumstances – ended on Sunday, Louisiana authorities say.

To close the non-violent protest, the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana Department of Corrections conducted "a joint operation" on Sunday night, according to a push launch obtained by WDSU. 

Authorities resolved to enter the pod when inmates induced the sprinkler program and place the pod at risk of flooding. Shortly after 8:30 p.m., 6 inmates ended up eradicated from the Orleans Justice Heart and sent to a utmost-safety facility.
