Previous NFL defensive close Steve White dies at 48

Former NFL participant Steve White, who expended seven seasons playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets, died on Tuesday. He was 48. 

White, who played for the Buccaneers from 1996 to 2001, wrote about his battle with cancer on Twitter before this 12 months.

"Several of you know that I have been working with a cancer (CLL) prognosis more than the previous 8 decades. I am now at a point exactly where I will need to go by way of a bone marrow transplant," White tweeted on April 6. CLL refers to chronic lymphocytic leukemia. 

"It is something I realized would sooner or later have to take place due to the fact 2017 and now that working day is essentially here," White wrote, incorporating that he was in otherwise fantastic spirits and felt "ready".

White retired in 2002 soon after participating in his previous skilled period with the New York Jets. Over his job, he gathered 119 tackles and 11.5 sacks. A Memphis indigenous, White played for the Tennessee Volunteers as a student at College of Tennessee.

Throughout the 1999 NFC divisional playoffs, White registered two sacks that totaled 20 yards and led to the Buccaneers' 14-13 earn in opposition to the Washington Redskins. He was named Defensive Participant of the 7 days for his general performance. 

White's former colleagues and enthusiasts expressed their regret over his passing on social media.

"Just read my teammate @sgw94 passed absent," former Buccaneers quarterback Shaun King wrote on Twitter. "Condolences to his liked ones. Often had am encouraging phrase for me when I was a younger participant with the @Buccaneers."

"My condolences go out to his spouse, young children, spouse and children and good friends," former Tampa Bay player Tyoka Jackson tweeted. "The recollections, the entertaining, the conversations will never ever be forgotten."

"RIP Steve White #94 in your Method but #1 in Our hearts!!," White's Buccaneers teammate Warren Sapp added.

Following his retirement, White wrote for the sports activities running a blog community SB Nation.
