WATCH: Restaurant owner tackles man who attacked elderly patron

A Hollywood restaurant owner came to the rescue of an elderly man who was attacked while enjoying a meal on the restaurant’s patio.

Surveillance video shows a man dressed in black punch the elderly man and appear to steal his belongings before being chased.

"I took him down and just waited there until the police arrived," Tim Ratcliff told KTTV.

The takedown took place at the intersection of La Brea Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. Ratcliff’s girlfriend and another witness helped him while they waited more than nine minutes for the police to arrive.

“I was not gonna lie, the adrenaline was a lot at that point, and afterward, it was exhausting,” Ratcliff said. “It felt like I had worked out the next day for quite a bit.”

The incident comes as the Los Angeles City Council last week approved additional Los Angeles Police Department shifts in Hollywood.
