Eliza Fletcher funeral: Slain Memphis jogger remembered as relatives bids ultimate farewell

Beloved types and the Memphis local community will assemble on Saturday early morning to bid farewell to Tennessee teacher and mom Eliza Fletcher. 

Fletcher, 34, was working close to the University of Memphis campus around 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 2 when she was abducted and killed, allegedly at the hands of a stranger named Cleotha Henderson. The funeral services will be held at the Second Presbyterian Church, in Memphis, Tennessee, in which Fletcher fulfilled her spouse of eight years, Richard. 

Henderson, who has a violent felony past, has given that been charged with quite a few counts, including 1st-degree murder, premeditated murder and murder in perpetration of kidnappings, in addition to other counts that incorporate aggravated kidnapping and tampering with/fabricating proof.

An obituary produced in her memory describes her as owning been "devoted" to her work and her learners. 

"As with every thing Liza took on, she nurtured and cared for her students with her entire heart," the obituary states. "A potent believer in the significance of personalized growth, she was not worried to be vulnerable. To the contrary, she embraced it."

It also describes the younger mom as a "born athlete."

Deputy Attorney General Steve Mulroy explained Tuesday that investigators had "no motive to consider this was nearly anything other than an isolated attack by a stranger." He did not disclose a possible motive.

Fletcher's spouse and children has requested that any memorials be produced in the sort of contributions to the Liza Wellford Fletcher Memorial Fund at St. Mary's Episcopal College, Christ Methodist Day University, and Second Presbyterian Church.
