Disgraced previous LA Town Council president stated reducing police funding 'step' towards ending racism

The disgraced former Los Angeles city council president reported that reducing law enforcement funding is a "move" towards ending racism.

In the wake of the murder of George Floyd, previous Los Angeles Town Council President Nury Martinez backed a proposal to slash law enforcement funding for the Town of Angels.

"Nowadays we [introduced] a motion to cut funding to the LAPD, as we reset our priorities in the wake of the murder of #GeorgeFloyd & the #BlackLivesMatter simply call that we all assist to end racism," Martinez said.

"This is just a single tiny stage," she continued in her June 2020 tweet. "We are not able to chat about improve, we have to be about improve."

Martinez resigned from her management job on Monday subsequent leaked audio of her racist remarks with other Latino metropolis council customers past year, with some of the remarks directed at a White colleague’s youthful Black son.

Martinez also called Bonin’s son "ese changuito," Spanish for "that very little monkey."

De León chimed in, evaluating Bonin’s handling of the toddler to "when Nury provides her minor garden bag or the Louis Vuitton bag."

It is not clear who created or leaked the recording. 

The officials had been talking about the redrawing of districts when the feedback have been manufactured.

Martinez mentioned in a assertion Monday that, powerful immediately, "I am resigning as President of the Los Angeles City Council."

Despite the fact that she resigned as council president, the disgraced councilwoman is however retaining her seat amid the controversy.

Martinez’s office did not instantly respond to G3 Box News Digital’s concern on if the councilwoman thinks it is hypocritical to desire law enforcement funding cuts to battle racism and then switch close to and use racist language.
