Kanye West loses Adidas Yeezy partnership after rapper's antisemitic tweets and remarks

Kanye West is losing his Yeezy brand as Adidas announced it would cut ties with the rapper and clothing designer.

Adidas announced Tuesday that it would terminate its partnership with West, who is now known as Ye, following his recent string of antisemitic and offensive remarks.

"Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech," the company said in a statement. "Ye's recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company's values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness."

The sportswear company said it would stop production of Ye’s Yeezy-branded products and all payments made to him and his companies “with immediate effect.”

Adidas’s announcement follows a review that began earlier this month, when Ye accused the company of "stealing" his designs. At the time, Adidas said that "successful partnerships are rooted in mutual respect and shared values” while acknowledging the partnership with Ye to be a successful collaboration, producing “iconic products.”

In addition to Adidas, Ye’s talent agency, Creative Artists Agency, the clothing designer Balenciaga, and JPMorgan Chase announced they would no longer be working with him in recent days.
