Los Angeles Unified College District hackers release details following ransom demand denied

Hackers driving a ransomware attacker on the Los Angeles Unified University District (LAUSD) in early September have produced confidential data on-line immediately after the district refused to give in to the hackers’ calls for. 

The district stated on Sunday the "legal group" had unveiled the illegally obtained knowledge. The hackers had presented the district till Monday to satisfy their requires but launched the info early just after LAUSD Superintendent Alberto Carvalho refused to fork out the ransom, the Los Angeles Occasions reported.

"What I can inform you is that the demand – any demand – would be absurd," Carvalho explained to The Situations. "But this level of demand from customers was, pretty frankly, insulting. And we’re not about to enter into negotiations with that sort of entity." 

The district on Friday reiterated its pledge that pounds "will have to be utilized to fund college students and training" and not "capitulating to a nefarious and illicit crime syndicate."

LAUSD detected the ransomware attack in early September, describing it as a "important disruption to our system’s infrastructure." 

The entire extent of the launch continues to be unclear. The district said Friday it is doing the job with regional and federal legislation enforcement.
