Nike co-founder donates $1M to Republican running for governor in Oregon

Nike co-founder Phil Knight has contributed $1 million toward Republican gubernatorial applicant Christine Drazan's campaign in Oregon, according to KATU.

Knight experienced earlier donated $3.75 million to impartial applicant Betsy Johnson's gubernatorial campaign, but has now shifted his sights to the correct. Knight's paying out spree shows a staunch opposition to the Democratic applicant for the governor's workplace, Tina Kotec.

Knight's boost to Drazan's campaign will come just about two months immediately after the prospect announced a steep raise in advert shelling out in August. The advertisement invest in centered around her roadmap for flipping Oregon, which has not elected a Republican governor in many years.

"Tina Kotek and Betsy Johnson have been driving Kate Brown's agenda for a long time. They have led Oregon down the wrong route," Drazan claimed in the advert. "Tina and Betsy have not preset anything at all. In actuality, they've built factors even worse"

"We require a new direction. My roadmap for Oregon cleans up our streets, stops the tax improves, and will make life more affordable for Oregon households. The stakes could not be increased, but jointly we can do this," she continued.

Whilst Oregon has not elected a Republican governor in decades, Drazan and Kotec are neck and neck in polls, with Drazan even holding a 1-stage lead in accordance to FiveThirtyEight's polling regular.
