Satanic Temple problems abortion bans in Idaho and Indiana

The Satanic Temple is suing Indiana and Idaho in federal courtroom around the states' abortion rules, arguing that bans on the follow violate their members' spiritual legal rights. 

Indiana was a single of the 1st states to move a ban on abortion in August immediately after the Supreme Court docket overturned Roe v. Wade in June. 

The Satanic Temple – which is centered in Salem, Massachusetts, but statements a lot more than 1.5 million members around the world – wrote that its 11,300 users in Indiana are "unable to engage in the Satanic Abortion Ritual owing to the criminalization of abortions" in the state, according to a copy of the lawsuit obtained by FOX59.

The group exclusively cited its third tenant, which states that "one’s entire body is inviolable, subject to one’s very own will alone," as well as its fifth tenant, which states that "beliefs need to conform to one’s greatest scientific knowing of the world."

The Satanic Temple filed its lawsuit in Indiana final Monday, then submitted a similar lawsuit in Idaho on Friday.

In advance of the Supreme Courtroom overturned Roe v. Wade, the Satanic Temple also filed a lawsuit in Texas to block that state's abortion ban. 

"All we are inquiring for is the skill to exercising our appropriate to religious liberty by taking part in a ritual as portion of our faith, no cost from government overreach," Satanic Temple Director of Marketing campaign Operations Erin Helian mentioned at the time.
