US Postal Assistance fraud scheme involved approximately $5M in losses, far more than 80 billed

The fraud plan started in 2018 when individuals deposited altered checks stolen from the mail into "quite a few" financial institution accounts, claimed Carroll Harris, the inspector in cost of the Los Angeles division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Company.

Bonta's business will file 330 felony expenses towards 88 defendants, he said.
