DC-area local climate protesters shut down Maryland freeway 14 arrested

Washington, D.C., space climate transform protesters blocked several lanes on a Maryland highway on the Fourth of July, top to the arrests of at least 14 folks for resisting arrest and other offenses. 

A group of protesters sat down and blocked all lanes of traffic on the interior loop of I-495 in Montgomery County, Maryland, around Exit 30 for Colesville Street/U.S. Route 29 at around 12:30 p.m. 

Maryland State Police’s Rockville Barrack troopers responded to the beltway and gave dispersal orders, instructing the crowd to go to the shoulder. All those who did not comply had been subject matter to arrest, law enforcement mentioned.

Police claimed 13 protesters were taken into custody on numerous rates, including resisting arrest, disturbing peace/hinder passage, and failure to obey a realistic/lawful buy, FOX 4 DC reported.

All lanes of targeted traffic experienced been reopened by approximately 1:45 p.m., police mentioned.
