The remains of a WWII soldier have been positively recognized as belonging to 21-12 months-outdated Military Pfc. Worley D. Jacks of Rutland, Ohio, according to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA).

Jacks was assigned to Corporation L, 232nd Infantry Regiment, 42nd Infantry Division, and was documented lacking in motion on March 7, 1945, after his unit grew to become engaged in struggle in opposition to German forces in Lichtenberg, France. Jacks' human body was never recovered and he was never claimed as a prisoner of war by the Germans. The War Department later declared him killed in motion on Oct. 4, 1945.
